Time Management

Club Soccer is a huge commitment: emotionally, physically, financially and logistically. As a Pros Soccer Club parent, you are probably juggling your schedule trying to stay sane. How many times has your child eaten dinner in the car on the way to/from practice while doing homework? Wouldn’t it be nice to have more time!

Harvey MacKay wrote in a column, “Time-management tips – if they truly work – are invaluable. That’s why allocating our time should be a top priority. Over a lifetime, it’s incredible how much time you can save, and the advantages you can achieve.”

There are many advanced techniques for time management. A time management program should include a to-do list, a calendar, and goal setting. Wikipedia includes Stephen P. Covey’s theories in their free on-line encyclopedia. His theory discusses the evolution of time management

A time management program should be customized to fit your needs. In any system, be sure to leave time for the unexpected and schedule time for yourself (exercise, reading, personal improvement, etc). Also, build in time for reflection:

Did you accomplish what you expected?
What surprises occurred?
What can you do better?

An effective time management program is one that is used. Only you can commit to have the disciplined to be more effective.
